General Usage

Aegle marmelos fruit aids in digestion and relieves stomach irritation. It is also considered helpful in treating diarrhea, dysentery, and other digestive ailments. The unripe, dried fruit is astringent, digestive, and stomachic. This is prescribed in Ayurveda for diarrhea and dysentery. The half-ripe fruit improves digestion. The Aegle marmelos fruit is also considered to have antioxidant properties. Aegle marmelos holds antidiarrheal, antimicrobial, antiviral, radioprotective, anticancer, chemopreventive, antipyretic, ulcer healing, antigenotoxic, diuretic, antifertility, and anti-inflammatory properties as well..

Aegle marmelos Correa, commonly referred to as wood apple, stone apple, Bengal quince, Indian quince, holy fruit, or golden apple in English, is a famous medicinal fruit abundantly found across India. The fruit is characterized as one with a hard shell, gummy texture, and numerous seeds. Aegle marmelos fruit is reported to contain biologically important phytochemicals like limonene, β-phellandrene, p-cymene, linalool, α-cubebene, cineole, p-cymene, citronella, citral, β-cubebene, β-caryophyllene, α-humulene, caryophyllene oxide, humulene oxide, and hexadecanoic acid.
