General Usage

In traditional and folk medicine, Ricinus communis is used as a remedy for everything from constipation to heartburn. The seed and oil display antimicrobial activity and have been used to treat several ailments. Castor also has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties.

Overview

Ricinus communis (Castor) is a soft wooden small tree found throughout the tropical warm region. Castor oil is derived from castor seeds and offers a variety of health benefits. Castor seed oil is used in inflammation treatment, liver disorders, hypoglycemia, and highly used as a laxative. It is widely used in cosmeceutical and nutraceutical industries. The therapeutic benefits of castor are attributed to ricinoleic acid and triglycerides present in the seed and oil.
