General Usage
S. mukorossi has been prescribed in Ayurvedic medicine for treatment of eczema, psoriasis, and for removing freckles. Reetha or soapnuts is traditionally used as expectorant as well as a source of natural surfactant. It is used for its detergent and insecticidal properties. The reetha fruit also has significance in treatment of common cold, pimples, epilepsy, constipation, and nausea.

Sapindus mukorossi, popularly known as Reetha, belong to family Sapindaceae. The fruit of S. mukorossi is mentioned in Ayurveda as a cleansing agent. It is widely used across cosmeceutical and pharmaceutical industries. Reetha is used as the main ingredient in shampoos for washing hair because it is considered good for hair health.
