General Usage

Kapoor Kachli or Shati is traditionally used to treat cough, wound ulcer, fever, respiratory problems and hiccough. The Hedychium spicatum rhizome possesses hypoglycaemic, vasodialator, spasmolytic, hypotensive, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Since ancient times, Kapoor Kachli is also used as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic.

Overview

Hedychium spicatum is perennial rhizomatous herb belonging to the family Zingiberaceae. It is mentioned as Kappor Kachli or Shati in Ayurveda. The rhizome extracts contain resins, organic acids, glycosides, albumen and saccharides. These are beneficial in treatment of bronchitis, indigestion, inflammation, and blood purification.
