General Usage

Traditionally, the aqueous extract of O. tenuiflorum leaves is used for treating common colds and fever. Ocimum tenuiflorum or Ocimum basilicum aids in cure of throat infections, respiratory problems, earaches and skin diseases. Krishna tulsi is widely used as an herbal tea, as mentioned in Ayurveda during treatment of jaundice and for alleviating blood pressure.

Pharmacologically, O. basilicum possesses antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, and anti-cancer activities.
