General Usage

Terminalia bellirica fruit extract stimulates the secretion of insulin and enhances its action and inhibits starch digestion. It also has been recommended in traditional medicine for relieving cough & cold, improving digestion, promoting bowel movements, and increasing immunity. Bibhitaki fruit reduces Ama by increasing digestive fire and also aids in the treatment of skin ailments.

Overview

Terminalia bellirica (Bibhitaki), also referred to as Baheda, is a large tree with broad elliptical leaves and ovoid fruit. The Baheda fruit has great medical and pharmacological significance. The Bibhitaki fruit has antidiabetic, anticancer, and antimicrobial properties. It is an important ingredient in Triphala. T. bellirica fruits are astringent (bitter) and acrid (sour) in taste. The fruit also possesses phytosterols, triterpenoids, glycosides, tannins, and phenolic compounds.
